2010 Pavement Improvement Projects
Starting in 2007, Mukilteo began preserving pavement rather than waiting until the pavement fails and then replacing it. So far, we have seal coated about 10 miles of City streets, preserving them for another 7-10 years with less impact on the environment - 60% less materials used and 40% less cost (over a 15 year life cycle of pavement). Please look under Public Work, Programs, for a detailed explanation of the City’s preservation program. Because heavy garbage truck tires tend to grind up a chip sealed surface when they turn sharply, we will not be chip sealing the turn-around area of cul-de-sacs. Rather, we will be putting down a light coat of fast curing oil to help slow the deterioration (oxidation) process.
The 2010 program includes all of Beverly Park Road from SR 525 down to Shelby/Picnic Point Road (the County will pay for their portion), Harbour Pointe Boulevard from Chennault Beach Road to SR 525 (north) and the Saratoga residential areas off the top of Harbour Heights Parkway. This work will take about two weeks and be completed between mid-July and mid-August.
