Planning & Community Development
The Department of Planning & Community Development is an integration of services that work in partnership with residents, businesses, and other jurisdictional agencies to preserve the quality of life in Mukilteo neighborhoods while providing comprehensive planning for the city's future growth and development.
Divisions within the Department consist of:
Planning - Long Range This Division is the city's lead for the development of the Comprehensive Plan and land use designations, functional plans, Shoreline Managment Program, Zoning Map revisions, development code amendments and annexations.
Sign Code Amendments A preliminary draft of proposed sign code amendments are available for public review and comment. Public hearings on the proposed amendments are tentatively scheduled for the Planning Commission 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010 and for the City Council 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 4. 2010. Shoreline Master Program The Shoreline Management Act requires all cities with a shoreline to adopt a Shoreline Management Program (SMP). Mukilteo is currently in the process of updating its SMP. In the next few months drafts of the SMP will become available for review and public comment. To learn more about the SMP update visit the city's Shoreline Master Program web page. As documents become ready for review they will be posted on this page. Similarly, as public meetings are scheduled information about them will also be posted.
Comprehensive Plan 2010 Amendments The proposed amendments to the Comprehensive Plan are limited. For details visit the Comprehensive Plan page.

Development and Permit Services This Division provides all development, zoning and permit review services, performs site inspections and investigates code compliance complaints. Staff Contact: Assistant Director of Planning & Community Development Patricia Love, 425.263.8041
Permit Center The Permit Center Division is the City's front line Information Desk. It is also the public's initial point of contact for obtaining City permits and licenses.
The Permit Center Division provides clerical support for the other divisions of the Planning & Community Development Department, Public Works and Engineering Departments and various City Boards and Commissions.

On-line Permits The City of Mukilteo offers on-line permits for some basic permits through our On-Line Permit Center.
