Neighborhood Block Watch
The Neighborhood Block Watch is a partnership between residents that includes Law Enforcement to improve safety and prevent crime.
The concept of a neighborhood block watch has been in existence for decades. It does not require people to hit the streets and perform police-like patrol duties, rather it encourages neighborhoods to gain some familiarity with each other and to understand what constitutes reportable suspicious activity. Suspicious activity should be noted and/or reported to the local police agency.
Active Block Watch groups not only serve as the eyes and ears of the police department, but they also are able to identify and correct potential “crime hazards”. Crime hazards are unsafe conditions and specific locations that can possibly harbor criminal activity.
Residents who are interested in starting a block watch in their neighborhood can contact the Mukilteo Police Department Crime Prevention Officer at (425) 263-8100 or e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org.
